Description of the lot:
This diptych is dedicated to Ukrainian miners – people whose work takes place on the edge between darkness and light. The two paintings complement each other: one shows the movement and tension of an underground shift, the other focuses on a single miner against an industrial landscape.
The contrast of glowing warm lights and deep shadows creates a feeling of the earth’s blazing core and the harsh conditions in which coal is extracted. The diptych speaks about dignity, endurance and the inner strength of those who for decades have been the industrial heart of Ukraine.
