About the Series
“English Garden” is an original series by Ukrainian artist Marina Stognieva, inspired by life in England, its garden culture, nature and the special beauty of quiet everyday moments.
Here, a little robin appears among the roses, white rabbits disappear into lush peonies, ducklings glide across the surface of a garden pond, while a cup of tea, a cat and flowers transform an ordinary day into a warm and intimate painted story.
The artist is interested not in documenting exactly what she sees, but in the feeling a moment leaves behind. Real nature, English light, seasonal blossoms and unexpected encounters with animals pass through her imagination and gradually create the distinctive world of the series — slightly romantic, slightly fairytale-like, yet very much alive.

Atmosphere of the Series
Over several years of living and creating in England, gardens have become part of the artist’s everyday observations. Their distinctive rhythm — spring awakening, summer blossoms, rain-soaked greenery, birds, animals and an ever-changing sky — gradually finds its continuation in her paintings.
Each painting has its own character and mood, yet together they create a single artistic world — a world of flowers, nature, animals and quiet beauty.

In spring 2026, the garden became one of the spaces where Marina Stognieva worked on her paintings outdoors. Paints on the garden table, greenery, spring light and the opportunity to work directly surrounded by nature continued the atmosphere that can be felt throughout the “English Garden” series.
Mood of the Series
“English Garden” is not simply a series about plants or animals. Through it, the artist speaks about the ability to notice life: the movement of a bird among the branches, an animal appearing between flowers, a reflection in the water or a quiet pause over a cup of tea.
It is from such easily overlooked moments that the atmosphere of a place is created. In painting they are given another life — becoming brighter, slightly more romantic, and remaining with the viewer much longer than the original moment itself.
