Artist Marina Stognieva was born in
Ukraine — a country that from early childhood shaped her sense of colour, light, space, and silence. Its landscapes, cities, rhythms of life, and human intonations became an invisible source of inspiration that accompanies her artistic path regardless of where she is physically located.
Over time, a need emerged not only to preserve these images in memory, but to share them — to reveal Ukraine as it is felt from within: multifaceted, alive, profound, and filled with character and inner dignity. From this inner impulse, the art project “The Picturesque Guide Through Ukraine” was born.
- This project is dedicated to all regions of Ukraine. Step by step, city by city, I am creating a painterly route in which each region appears not merely as a geographical point, but as a distinct world with its own mood, history, and soul.
My wish is that both within Ukraine and beyond its borders, people may discover the many faces of the country and feel its depth and inner richness.
Moving through the pages of “The Picturesque Guide Through Ukraine,” the viewer will be able not only to see the beauty of cities and landscapes, but also to sense their character, silence, rhythm, and warmth — qualities that are often impossible to express in words, yet can be felt through image, colour, and atmosphere.
In this blog, I will share the process of working on the project, reflections, discoveries, and the path along which this painterly guide is taking shape — as a living, open narrative about a country that continues to inspire me every day. - Told by the author of the project, M. Stognieva
